$325,000 Raised at 2016 Workout to Conquer Cancer™

April 4, 2016

RICHMOND, B.C. – Hundreds of participants took to the gym floor on Saturday April 2nd to Workout to Conquer Cancer TM, raising an inspiring $325,000 for the BC Cancer Foundation. The funds will support priority cancer research at the BC Cancer Agency, kick-starting projects with the most promise to dramatically improve cancer outcomes.

In four years, Workout has raised an incredible $1.3 million for the BC Cancer Foundation, providing researchers at the BC Cancer Agency with the resources to launch new research initiatives with a near-sighted goal of making cancer a manageable disease.

“With every lunge, leg-lift and drop of sweat, Workout participants are helping to change the future of cancer care in B.C. as the critical funds they raised will be put to work in the labs and clinics at the BC Cancer Agency in the days ahead,” said Lou Del Gobbo, Interim  President & CEO, BC Cancer Foundation.

Registration for Workout to Conquer Cancer 2017 is open and the event is expanding to become a 31 day fitness challenge for the month of May. Participants will commit to Workout every day for the month with access to the hottest fitness classes in the lower mainland by drop-in donation classes offered by training partner.

The dollars raised will be put to work supporting projects of the highest priority, including the development of new therapeutics to help in the effort to stop metastatic disease in its tracks.
