VANCOUVER, B.C. – The BC Cancer Foundation is pleased to announce our accreditation under Imagine Canada’s national Standards Program.

The Standards Program is a Canada-wide set of shared standards for charities and nonprofits designed to strengthen the practices of Canadian charities and nonprofits and increase public confidence in the sector’s work through demonstrated transparency and accountability.

The BC Cancer Foundation’s Board and staff are very proud of our national accreditation that builds confidence in and strengthens our sector as a whole,” says Douglas Nelson, President and CEO of the BC Cancer Foundation.

“We are excited to share this news with our donors, partners and the community at large who enable us to support life-saving cancer research in British Columbia through the BC Cancer Agency,” adds Nelson.

The BC Cancer Foundation’s policies and procedures were evaluated by a voluntary peer-review panel in five fundamental areas: board governance; financial accountability and transparency; fundraising; staff management; and volunteer involvement. The Peer Review Panel determined that the BC Cancer Foundation successfully demonstrated compliance in all of the areas covered by the Standards Program.

The BC Cancer Foundation is the fundraising partner of the BC Cancer Agency, enhancing care and supporting life-saving cancer research initiatives—benefitting patients in B.C. and beyond.
