Read the latest news and research breakthroughs happening at the BC Cancer Agency

“I’m proud to chair Jingle Mingle, as cancer care and research is a cause close to my heart. Since 2007, Jingle Mingle has raised $450,000 for BC Cancer Agency’s Deeley Research Centre in Victoria, which focuses on immunotherapy, a promising new way to treat cancer. Immune-based cancer research looks at how to harness the body’s inherent power to combat cancer through one’s own immune system. With immunotherapy, vaccines or related procedures can be used to boost the patient’s natural immune response to their cancer, thereby helping to naturally eliminate cancer cells throughout the body.
Imagine a future in which cancer patients in BC are offered not only standard treatments, but also the opportunity to receive vaccines or T cell infusions. Thanks to our donors, supporters and volunteers, funds raised at Jingle Mingle support researchers who are making break-through discoveries on Vancouver Island.”

Jingle Mingle & The Jingle Soirée

Jingle Mingle and brand new Jingle Soirée raised a staggering $510,000 for invaluable cancer research at the BC Cancer Agency’s Vancouver Island Centre.
On December 7, 2011, a generous crowd of 275 Vancouver Islanders gathered at the Fairmont Empress Hotel to enjoy delectable drinks and hor d’oeuvres while bidding on fabulous silent and live auction items.
Jingle Mingle guests raised their paddles high in philanthropic spirit for the event’s first Equip-a-Need—a way to raise funds for in-demand scientific equipment. Proceeds from this year’s Equip-a-Need are going toward a state-of-the-art robotic microscope as well as other high priority research equipment at the BC Cancer Agency’s Vancouver Island Centre. The microscope will help scientists find answers that will transform immunotherapy research on Vancouver Island—benefitting patients in the community first.
The sold-out Jingle Soirée was brand new for 2011 and an overwhelming success. The intimate four course dining experience at Prime Steakhouse & Lounge wowed guests’ taste-buds all while being serenaded by Carnegie Hall performer Ken Lavigne’s opera vocals.
Thank you to Jingle Mingle and Jingle Soiree’s donors, sponsors, in-kind supporters, guests and volunteers who made this year’s event a success!
