Vancouver, B.C. – The generosity of 4,000 BC Cancer Foundation donors has made a major milestone in cancer care possible with the installation of the leading-edge VERO™ treatment system at the BC Cancer Agency.

VERO, the most cutting-edge radiotherapy technology installed in Canada, will soon benefit patients diagnosed with rare and hard-to-treat cancers and improve the standard of cancer care in this province.

BC Cancer Foundation donors responded in record speed in late 2014, providing an incredible $6.5 million to purchase VERO and help bring the most advanced radiation therapy system to the BC Cancer Agency.

VERO delivers precise radiation to a tumour with tumour tracking abilities to avoid the healthy tissue surrounding it, giving new hope to patients diagnosed with the most typically hard-to-treat cancers: lung, liver, pancreas, kidney and brain.
