The BC Cancer Foundation’s 2012 Inspiration Gala is just around the corner, and the momentum can be felt across our organization. This year’s sold-out Gala will support a very important cause: the Pancreatic Cancer Research Initiative. Nearly 600 British Columbians will be diagnosed with pancreatic cancer this year, and the effect of this disease is devastating—75 per cent of patients do not survive a full year post-diagnosis. Together, we can change these statistics, and I am looking forward to seeing the incredible impact the Gala will have.
Dr. Daniel Renouf is a medical oncologist and specialist in pancreatic cancer research at the BC Cancer Agency, and has generously given his time and energy to help make the Inspiration Gala a success. As the direct recipients of support from generous donors across the province, Dr. Renouf and his colleagues are committed to uncovering new therapeutic targets and better diagnostic tools.
As our guest blogger for November, Dr. Renouf is here to tell you more about his important work for the Pancreatic Cancer Research Initiative.
