This year marks the 21st Anniversary of Run Inn the Woods.

Run Inn the Woods started as a memorial run for our good friend Barry Allcock who passed away in 1997 after a long battle with cancer. Barry loved to run but more importantly he loved to run while in the company of good friends. It is in this spirit that we remember and celebrate with Run Inn the Woods.

Over the years the Run Inn has lost a few other friends who shared the same spirit as Barry.

Carrie Beaman who was only 24 years old when she passed away in 2002 from neuroendocrine cancer. In her short life Carrie did a lot to promote health and wellness.

Mike Holyk who lost his battle to an aggressive form of lymphoma in 2012. For Mike his next run was always his best run.

Scott Jackson who passed away in 2015 after being diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia 8 months earlier. We remember Scott’s dedication and determination; starting as a complete beginner he went on to train for and complete a half marathon.

Devi Ralla who passed away in 2017 from an invasive form of breast cancer. Devi co-led the Run Inn’s marathon training group and could be counted on for her support, encouragement and sense of humour and fun on the training runs.

Since its inaugural run in 1998, Run Inn the Woods has raised over $157,000 in donations. It is the longest running, largest per capita grossing, independently managed, community based fundraising event for the BC Cancer Foundation.

All registrations must be completed in-person at The Run Inn, 2331 West 41st Avenue in Vancouver
(or at Southlands Elementary School on event day)
