Beyond Belief Campaign FAQs

What is the Beyond Belief campaign?

We’re launching the most ambitious and comprehensive health campaign in B.C. history. Our goal is to raise $500 million to elevate cancer care for all British Columbians.

Why is BCCF embarking on a campaign?

This is the most exciting time in the history of cancer research and care. Science has been accelerating — driven by global collaboration, access to high-quality data, technological advancements, and a much deeper understanding of cancer biology. Cancer is the world’s biggest healthcare crisis, and with demand for cancer treatments expected to increase by 60% in the next ten years, the time to act is now — for every single British Columbian.

Is my donation eligible for this campaign?

The campaign will run until early 2026 so all gifts donated right now will be added to our campaign totals.

What is this campaign aiming to do?

We are looking to raise $500M to elevate cancer care for all British Columbians by focusing on three important priority areas — expand our world-leading teams of researchers and clinicians, investing in world-first innovations and cutting-edge research, and accelerating access to these innovations for all British Columbians. People, innovation and access — these are the pillars of our fundraising efforts.

What are your fundraising priorities for this campaign?

We will be focusing on three important priorities in this campaign – activating the world’s best by attracting and retaining talented; advancing innovation by investing in the latest in technology and research; accelerating access to leading cancer care for all British Columbians close to home. In these key areas, we focus on a number of different cancer priorities. Do you have a particular cancer area you are looking to support?

What city/area of the province are you focusing on for the campaign?

This campaign is province-wide. Cancer has no boundaries so neither do we. One of our key focus for this campaign is to expand cancer care access to all British Columbians, even in remote areas, while making sure it is equitable and fair.

I recently made a donation, but didn’t know about this campaign. Does it count?

We have been counting donations towards the campaign starting April 2019. If you made your donation after April 2019, it will count towards the campaign.

I’m making a gift towards this campaign – will I get a tax receipt for this donation?

In adherence with Revenue Canada policies, any donation amount you make will have a tax receipt for the amount of the gift that you make.

If I sign up as a monthly donor, will it count towards the campaign?

Yes, monthly gifts made during the duration of the campaign will count towards the campaign. The campaign started in April 2019.

I’m already a monthly donor – will my gifts count?

Yes, monthly gifts made during the duration of the campaign will count towards the campaign.

I want to give, but I’m worried my cheque won’t get there by the deadline…

Our campaign will run until the spring of 2026 and you may make your donation online, by phone, or by mail. We have different priorities with different urgent needs and timelines so let us know what area you may be interested in funding!
