Your gift will be matched!

Your gift today will be matched by the Collings Stevens Family Foundation, up to a total of $1 million, to help build a state-of-the art Medicinal Chemistry Laboratory at BC Cancer’s L.J. Blackmore Cancer Research Centre!

Cancer research is advancing at an unprecedented pace, driven by cutting-edge facilities, infrastructure, experts, and technology. BC Cancer’s scientists have made remarkable strides in discovering genes behind both common and rare cancers, and how they work.

But there is a critical gap in our in-house capacity to develop molecules that can stop the uncontrolled growth of cancer cells. These molecules are essential for creating new drugs that have the potential to eradicate cancer.

Dr. Lily ProctorThe new Medicinal Chemistry Laboratory will enable our expert scientists to discover new ways to understand cancer, test and prove that new compounds work, and screen and test small molecules that can become new drugs for a broad array of cancers.

“More research is needed to help people whose existing medications are not effective. We need to find better solutions for all people facing cancer.”

– Allan Collings and Hilary Stevens

Support Research at BC Cancer and Transform Lives

Help build a specialized lab where cancer treatments will be developed, giving hope to patients across B.C., like Marita Luk.

When Marita was diagnosed with breast cancer, she felt lost and alone, as she had no family or friends with personal cancer experiences to help guide her through the journey.

BC Cancer connected her with a survivor, who became a lifelong friend and a source of strength. Marita also formed uplifting bonds with other women in treatment, sharing fears, hopes, and joys. After chemotherapy, radiation, and ten years of medication, Marita is now cancer-free.

Marita knows firsthand the hope that advances in research and development of new treatment options brings to patients. The new Medicinal Chemistry lab at BC Cancer’s L.J. Blackmore Cancer Research Centre will be a hub of innovation and will help discover and develop more cures, ensuring that people across B.C. receive the most promising treatments.

Please support this cutting-edge new laboratory. Together, we can find meaningful solutions to give families facing cancer hope for the future!
