Today, on World Kindness Day, we’re sharing five meaningful ways to celebrate kindness and spread positivity.

Lend a Helping Hand

Kindness doesn’t always need to be a grand gesture. Show your support for a friend or family member who’s going through a difficult time by simply asking how you can help and listening to their needs. For someone facing cancer, even a small act, such as offering a ride to and from appointments, can make a world of difference.

Make a Donation

Give back to your community by donating to a cause that is close to your heart. At BC Cancer Foundation, there are multiple ways to donate — this includes making a one-time donation, becoming a monthly donor or leaving a gift in your will. With one in two British Columbians facing cancer in their lifetime, and cases rising due to a growing population, your support has never been more critical.

Host a Fundraiser

Want to make a difference while spreading the word about an important cause? Organize a fundraiser in your community! Fundraising events are a wonderful way to bring people together, raise awareness and inspire others to take action. These initiatives support British Columbians facing cancer and help build a kinder, more informed community.

Recognize a Caregiver or Nurse in Your Life

Behind every patient stands a team of incredibly dedicated caregivers. Nurses and oncology staff are the unsung heroes who work tirelessly to provide patients with comfort, care and compassion. Take a moment to show your appreciation and gratitude by nominating them for a special spotlight, writing a heartfelt thank-you note or simply telling them in person how much their support means. If you’d like to recognize a BC Cancer staff member for their exceptional care and compassion, you can write a message of thanks on their website.

Practice Self-Kindness

It’s important to treat yourself with the same compassion you offer other people. Whether it’s taking a walk in nature, spending time with loved ones or just relaxing, self-care boosts your mental health. Taking care of yourself helps you show up as your best self for others.
