Exciting News and Introducing Dr. Cheryl Ho

November 6, 2013

Before I introduce our November guest blogger, I’d like to share some exciting news. At the BC Cancer Foundation, we strive for fiscal responsibility and transparency across the organization – I’m very proud to announce that the BC Cancer Foundation has received accreditation under Imagine Canada’s national Standards Program.

Through a peer review-based process, the BC Cancer Foundation’s policies and procedures were evaluated and found to be compliant in all five areas of importance for charities and nonprofits: board governance; financial accountability and transparency; fundraising; staff management; and volunteer involvement.

Thank you to our October guest blogger Dr. Frances Wong for sharing the promising breast cancer research and care advancements taking place at the BC Cancer Agency’s Abbotsford and Fraser Valley Centres. We are grateful for the work Dr. Wong and her colleagues are doing to ensure patients receive the highest standard of care.

Joining us for the month of November, is medical oncologist Dr. Cheryl Ho. November is Lung Cancer Awareness Month and Dr. Ho is an expert in this area, conducting research to find new solutions for patients affected by this devastating disease. Lung cancer research is also a key priority for the BC Cancer Agency and the focus of the BC Cancer Foundation’s Inspiration Gala, taking place this Thursday evening. November is off to a very promising start.
