Introducing September Guest Blogger Dr. Ross Halperin
September 3, 2014
Before I welcome our September guest blogger, I have some exciting news to share:
Over the past several years, the BC Cancer Foundation has been recognized by Charity Intelligence and Imagine Canada for our excellence and transparency in governance. This past week, the Canadian Society of Corporate Secretaries named the BC Cancer Foundation as the winner of “Best Overall Governance,” recognizing the great working relationship between the BC Cancer Foundation staff and Board, as well as our efforts to improve transparency, risk management processes and our overall commitment to quality governance. This award is a testament to the high standards we strive for and our donors deserve – we are honoured to be recognized.

I want to extend a warm thank you to Dr. Miriam Rosin and her colleagues in the BC Oral Cancer Prevention Program for showing us the many dimensions of oral cancer research and care, from clinics in the community to the laboratories of the BC Cancer Research Centre. As you can see, ambitious steps are being taken by a passionate team to ensure better oral cancer outcomes for patients in B.C.
For September, we are very pleased to welcome back Dr. Ross Halperin, Interim VP Radiation Therapy, Functional Imaging and Oral Oncology at the BC Cancer Agency. Dr. Halperin’s name will be familiar to devoted readers of our blog, as he first wrote about his work back in April 2011. This month, he returns to share exciting updates and also speak about the important role equipment and technology play in providing the highest standard of care for patients in British Columbia.
Thanks for reading,
Doug
