VICTORIA, B.C. – Peninsula Co-op has generously partnered with the BC Cancer Foundation to bring Vancouver Island cancer patients the best outcomes with innovative therapies. Starting tomorrow, July 20th, until July 31st, Peninsula Co-op will match every gift made on Vancouver Island up to $75,000 to bring new, cutting-edge treatment options to patients facing cancer in the community.

Patients like Linda West, whose life has been saved because of treatments offered to her via clinical trials at BC Cancer – Victoria.

Linda learned she had breast cancer in 2003 and underwent six months of chemotherapy, followed by 35 radiation treatments. “I was so lucky to get Dr. Vanessa Bernstein as my oncologist. She thoroughly explained my best treatment options,” says Linda.

In 2016, Linda’s life had returned to normal. After experiencing symptoms of breathlessness and being rushed to the ER, she learned her cancer had returned at Stage IV, spreading to her lungs, bones, liver and brain.

After trying several different chemotherapies, Dr. Bernstein recommended two innovative therapies that have successfully kept Linda’s cancer at bay for the last three years: “Today, I am doing fantastic. I go for long walks, I’m golfing, entertaining. I’m making the most of my life and appreciate every day I have.”

Innovative therapies are changing outcomes and saving the lives of patients, like Linda.

“Donations make such a difference to people living with cancer, they give hope. With Peninsula Co-op matching donations, it’s a great time to give,” she says.

This year, more than 27,000 British Columbians will learn they have cancer. Give today and double your impact to bring innovative treatments to patients across Vancouver Island:  www.bccancerfoundation.com/match
