Jingle Mingle introduces exciting opportunity to support state-of-the-art research technology on Vancouver Island
November 8, 2011
Victoria, B.C. – The BC Cancer Foundation’s Jingle Mingle — Victoria’s holiday season cocktail-party of the year— introduces Equip-a-Need for 2011.
“Equip-a-Need will add an exciting element to this year’s Jingle Mingle cocktail party, providing our guests with an opportunity to raise their paddles and help to fund a cutting-edge robotic microscope that will enhance researchers’ life-saving work at the BC Cancer Agency’s Vancouver Island Centre!,” says Bonnie Campbell, Jingle Mingle committee chair.
BC Cancer Agency scientists on Vancouver Island specialize in developing new immune therapies to help treat cancer. Equip-a-Need will help fundraise for a new microscope that will dramatically accelerate the time in which scientists can analyze cancer cells as the robotic microscope analyzes 300,000 cells within in 15 minutes, compared to six weeks with current equipment.
Dr. Brad Nelson, director of the BC Cancer Agency’s Deeley Research Centre in Victoria, says, “We are thrilled that a portion of Jingle Mingle proceeds will fund a state-of-the-art Molecular Pathology Robotic Microscope, which will help us find answers that will transform immunotherapy research on Vancouver Island—benefitting patients right here in our community.”
In addition to Equip-a-Need the Jingle Mingle 2011 committee is proud to introduce the exclusive new Jingle Soirée dinning experience, a limited seated event following the cocktail party on Wednesday December 7th.
The festive celebrations will feature a silent and live auction with items sure to delight you or that special someone, including a trip to New York City for four, a “Meet & Greet” with the Vancouver Canucks, and a car.
“Our entire family is committed to the important work that BC Cancer Agency Researchers are doing every day on Vancouver Island. I’m pleased to donate a brand new Hyundai Accent for the Jingle Mingle live auction in support the BC Cancer Foundation’s fundraising efforts,” says Jo Campbell, philanthropist and long time BC Cancer Foundation supporter.
Tickets for Jingle Mingle are $150 per person; tickets for the Jingle Soirée are $500 per person with a partial tax receipt available for each event.
