The BC Cancer Foundation’s 13th annual Jingle Mingle, presented by Thrifty Foods, was held on Thursday, November 28th, raising an extraordinary $650,000 to bring an innovative therapies unit to BC Cancer – Victoria. These crucial funds, along with the generosity of Foundation donors throughout the year means a new clinical trials unit will launch in Victoria.
Fueled by 325 generous Jingle Mingle guests, funds will support the launch of the unit, with a primary goal to create more clinical trials and provide greater access for more patients on the Island, and beyond.
Currently, there are six trials available in Victoria. With the inspiring philanthropic support from Jingle Mingle donors, BC Cancer can now quadruple this amount to 24 trials in the next two years, giving oncologists more options to better treat their patients.
The BC Cancer Foundation’s Jingle Mingle has raised more than $8 million in its 13-year history, supporting BC Cancer’s brilliant clinicians and scientists to provide the Island community with world-class research and care today.
Jingle Mingle is led by a dynamic and dedicated team of people in our community:
Board of Directors
Regional Advisory Council
Bev Highton, Chair
Jessica O’Brien Cameron
Amanda Wilson, Chair

In 2019, more than 27,000 British Columbians will be diagnosed with cancer. Through Jingle Mingle, BC Cancer’s world-leading scientists and clinicians are extending and saving lives and giving hope to families. Jingle Mingle donors have dramatically improved access to diagnostic imaging tools by funding the installation of a PET/CT machine in the Victoria Centre. Donors have also been crucial in supporting the research behind the immunotherapy clinical trials about to begin in Victoria at the Deeley Research Centre. Since the event’s inception twelve years ago, Jingle Mingle guests have raised over $7.5 million to bring world class cancer care closer to home.
This year’s event will raise funds to launch the Innovative Therapies Unit. The goal of this program is to make more clinical trials open to more patients. Currently there are six trials available in Victoria. With philanthropic support, we will quadruple that to twenty four in the next two years, giving oncologists more options to better treat their patients. Clinical trials represent the pinnacle of excellent patient care, and a necessary step in the cutting-edge research that brings us better treatments. In addition to providing new hope to cancer patients, clinical trials will spark change across the cancer landscape that will ensure our health and the health of our children and grandchildren for years to come.
