Donor support for Beyond Belief empowers BC Cancer’s world-class experts across the province to help them unleash their full potential.

• Leading Research: From BC Cancer – Kelowna’s new Research and Development Hub, to sustaining momentum at BC Cancer – Victoria’s Deeley Research Centre, to supporting the over 345 researchers and 720 trainees across the province, donors are key to creating leading-edge research opportunities that help attract and retain top expert at BC Cancer.
• Fuelling Talent: Donors have strengthened expertise and supported the next generation of researchers, driving cancer innovations. Key initiatives include the BC Cancer Foundation Rising Stars Awards honouring Dr. Connie Eaves, and the establishment of the first Chair in Brachytherapy to support Dr. Juanita Crook’s work.
• Investments for the Future: Cancer care in B.C. is being shaped by leading research and philanthropy, with innovations happening faster than ever. The BC Cancer – Vancouver Technology Transformation is now underway to provide researchers and clinicians with first-in-Canada tools to deliver precision care and drive breakthroughs, for even the most challenging diagnoses.

Philanthropy plays a pivotal role in empowering researchers to access additional funding, enabling them to secure up to four times the resources necessary to drive groundbreaking discoveries.

Through the generous support of donors, BC Cancer has seen remarkable progress, including a nearly 20% increase in survival rates amongst patients over the past 25 years. Over 70% of BC Cancer patients are now living beyond three years after their diagnoses.

This progress brings us closer to transforming cancer into a manageable disease.
