This will be the first time radiation treatments, which can span several weeks, will be available on Vancouver Island outside of Victoria.

Bringing Cancer Care Close to Home on Vancouver Island

Opening in 2028, the new BC Cancer centre in Nanaimo marks a transformative step forward in expanding access to life-saving cancer care for patients across Vancouver Island, which sees over 6,000 new cancer diagnoses every year.

The BC Cancer Foundation is proud to support its development through a $10 million fundraising campaign. The campaign will equip the new BC Cancer centre with state-of-the-art technologies, including a PET/CT scanner, a CT simulator and high-precision radiation treatment equipment.

Construction is currently underway and once complete, BC Cancer – Nanaimo will make a huge difference for patients and families north of the Malahat by easing the emotional, physical and financial burdens of travelling for treatment.
