Patient Support Services
Supporting Patients Every Step Of The Way
When you face the most serious illness of a lifetime, you want access to the best care and the best support, close to home.
We know cancer is overwhelming and we are here to reduce anxiety and stress with seamless and compassionate supportive services that families count on every step of the way.
BC Cancer’s care extends well beyond treatments of chemotherapy and radiation therapy. Programs vital to the care of patients and their families are; psychiatry, patient and family counselling, nursing, nutrition, pain and symptom management.
Donors can play a critical role in enhancing the care of cancer patients across the province.
Donors Make a Difference
Donors make an immediate difference. Right now, the pandemic has placed an increased demand on supportive care. Donor dollars help offset financial challenges patients may be facing, and help improve access to care by offering urgent access to accommodation close to BC Cancer centres, taxi or gas cards, gift cards for groceries or pharmacy.
Donors also support art therapy, spiritual care, and enhance patient and family counselling.
“Art therapy is about creating for the sake of expressing yourself. There are many benefits of doing art therapy, including improved mood and ability to cope with challenges, relaxation, and stress reduction.”
-Sara Hankinson, BC Cancer Art Therapist
