Steps to Conquer Cancer in Memory of Suzanne West was founded in 2019 in Vancouver, BC as an expansion of Steps to End Homelessness in Calgary, AB.

Suzanne West, visionary entrepreneur and founder of Imaginea Energy, launched Steps to End Homelessness in 2009, born out of her desire to change the world and her commitment to advocating for the less fortunate.

As a commitment to giving back, Suzanne West annually on her birthday, would host Steps to End Homelessness in raising funds for each set of stairs run by her and all attending participants.

Tragically, Suzanne West passed away on March 6th, 2018 following a battle with brain cancer, just shy of what would have been her 53rd birthday. In continuing the memory and legacy Suzanne West left on this planet, former Imaginea Energy employee JR Hammond has continued the spirit of the event in his hometown of Vancouver, British Columbia.

JR Hammond now hosts Steps to Conquer Cancer in Memory of Suzanne West with all proceeds going towards BC Cancer Foundation. Each year, JR Hammond runs the equivalent amount of stairs for what would have been Suzanne’s Birthday that year. For 2024, which would have been Suzanne’s 59th birthday, JR Hammond is inviting friends, family and colleagues out to help raise his goal of $5,900 ($100 for each set complete).
