The new BC Cancer – Nanaimo will:

1

Deliver Radiation Therapy

For the first time, radiation treatments — often delivered over several weeks — will be available on Vancouver Island outside of Victoria.

2

Offer Cutting-Edge Tech

Patients will benefit from the latest diagnostic and treatment technologies, enabling more specialized care closer to home.

3

Expand Care Capacity

The new centre will deliver timely care across the Island, reducing the travel burden for patients who live north of the Malahat.

Double Your Impact for Cancer Care on Vancouver Island

For a limited time, every donation to the new BC Cancer – Nanaimo centre will be matched dollar-for-dollar, up to $100,000, thanks to the generosity of the Auxiliary Society for Comox Valley Healthcare.

Opening in 2028, the new centre will significantly expand access to life-saving cancer care for people across Vancouver Island, where more than 6,000 individuals are diagnosed with cancer each year.

This matching opportunity supports the BC Cancer Foundation’s $10 million fundraising campaign for BC Cancer – Nanaimo, helping equip the new centre with state-of-the-art technologies, including a PET/CT scanner, a CT simulator and high-precision radiation treatment equipment.

With construction underway, the new centre will ease the emotional, physical and financial burden of travelling for care, bringing care closer to home for families north of the Malahat.

Give today and make twice the impact for patients across central Vancouver Island.

Our Generous Donors

Established in 1914, the Auxiliary Society for Comox Valley Healthcare has a long-standing commitment to supporting the wellbeing of their community.

Over the decades, the organization has raised millions of dollars to support local healthcare, and enhance patient care and quality of life for residents. This donation match continues their legacy of giving back and helping their community thrive.

“Cancer touches every family in our community, and we know how difficult it can be for patients to travel long distances for care. By supporting BC Cancer – Nanaimo, our auxiliary is proud to stand with the BC Cancer Foundation in a shared vision that will bring care closer to home for patients and families across Vancouver Island.”
