The BC Cancer Foundation is proud to announce the completion of its Beyond Belief campaign, raising an unprecedented $529.6 million, surpassing its original $500 million goal and marking the largest health fundraising initiative in British Columbia’s history.

With support from 284,000 donors who made 1.6 million gifts, the campaign is accelerating life-saving advancements in cancer research, prevention, early detection and treatment — all right here in B.C., where every dollar stays local to benefit patients and families across the province.

“This is a landmark moment for cancer care in British Columbia,” says Sarah Roth, President & CEO, BC Cancer Foundation. “Our donors have helped turn bold ideas into reality, accelerating progress that is saving lives today and will have lasting impact for generations to come.”

Why We Launched Beyond Belief

Cancer touches every family. With one in two British Columbians expected to face cancer in their lifetime — and diagnoses projected to rise by 33% over the next decade — the need for bold action was clear.

The campaign set out to:

  • Advance Innovation: Invest in cutting-edge research and technology for earlier detection and more precise, less toxic treatments.
  • Activate World-Class Experts: Attract and empower leading researchers and clinicians to drive breakthroughs.
  • Accelerate Access: Enhance access to care across B.C., bringing world-class treatment closer to home.

What We Achieved Together

The campaign supported over 120 transformative projects at BC Cancer, including:

  • Supporting the development of the four new BC Cancer centres in Burnaby, Nanaimo and Kamloops, and a second centre in Surrey, set to open by 2030 and deliver 108,000 radiation visits in their first years
  • Advancing genomics, precision radiation and AI-powered research to deliver more personalized, effective cancer treatments.
  • PET/CT scanners to Victoria and Kelowna, expanding access beyond Vancouver for the first time.
  • Fuelled BC Cancer clinical trials across the province, helping strengthen one of Canada’s most active trials networks with over 380 active studies.

“This campaign has helped open new doors in cancer care across British Columbia,” says Dr. Paris-Ann Ingledew, Interim Chief Medical Officer, BC Cancer. “Every day, our patients are benefiting from treatments and care options that didn’t exist a few years ago. It’s a powerful reminder of what’s possible when science and community come together.”

Building on a Historic Milestone

Each year, over 80,000 British Columbians rely on BC Cancer for life-saving care. While the Beyond Belief campaign has concluded, the need for innovation and support continues.

“A future where cancer is detected earlier, treated more precisely and prevented more often is within reach for patients and families across B.C.,” adds Roth. “Together, we will continue to push boundaries and save lives.”
