VANCOUVER – More than 1,300 British Columbians grabbed their runners and water bottles every day for the month of May and raised an astounding $360,000 for BC Cancer Foundation’s Workout to Conquer Cancer presented by RYU Apparel.
Whether they walked, ran, danced or skipped, Workout participants broke a sweat for 31 days straight and fundraised to advance cancer care for patients across the province.
“We truly thank everyone across the province who committed to work out every day in May,” says Sarah Roth, president & CEO, BC Cancer Foundation. “Your hardworking efforts are providing hope for people facing cancer in our community.”
Top team fundraising honours go to YYOGA, who raised over $22,000 for the event. Randy Ferrario was the top individual fundraiser, raising over $12,000 for the cause.
In its six year history, Workout has raised over $2 million to help improve outcomes for patients across B.C.
With one in two British Columbians facing cancer in their lifetime, events like Workout are providing researchers at BC Cancer with the resources to launch new initiatives as well as state-of-the-art tools and equipment to advance patient comfort and care.
