BC Cancer’s care expands well beyond the typical treatments of chemotherapy and radiation therapy. Programs vital to the care of patients and their families are; psychiatry, patient and family counselling, nursing, nutrition, pain and symptom management.
Donors can play a critical role in enhancing the care of cancer patients across the province.
Patient Support Services Include:
- Patient and family counselling to improve their emotional health and well-being
- Pain and symptom management to optimize the quality of life for individuals living with cancer
- Dietitians and speech language pathologists provide effective therapies to support, treat, manage and improve the health of cancer patients
- Psychosocial services help with cancer-related emotions such as anxiety, depression and grief
