Celebrating National Volunteer Week

As the saying goes, we’re stronger together.
This is especially true at the BC Cancer Foundation, where our many generous donors and volunteers help propel the future of research and care forward for British Columbians facing cancer.
As we celebrate National Volunteer Week this April 14 to 20, 2024, we’d love to celebrate the many wonderful individuals who enable the Foundation to go Beyond Belief and ensure that life beyond cancer is within reach.
A big thank you goes out to our hundreds of community and provincial event volunteers across B.C., who devote their time, knowledge and passion to support our mission and vision by leading events and fundraising on our behalf.
We’d also like to extend our sincere gratitude to our Board of Directors, whose tireless governance of the Foundation is truly exceptional, and to our Committees and Councils, who generously share their time and expertise to support the advancement of cancer care throughout the province; these include the Beyond Belief Campaign Cabinet, the Catalyst Ambassadors, and our regional Committees and Councils (see a full list of these members here).
These community leaders have made tremendous impacts by supporting key initiatives across B.C.:
- The Northern Ambassador Committee has been essential in increasing access to cancer care in the North, by supporting initiatives like BC Cancer – Prince George’s SIMPLIFY precision radiation clinical trial program.
- The contributions of the Interior Transformation Council have helped the Foundation accelerate a new, world-class Systemic Therapy treatment program at BC Cancer – Kelowna, and assisted with the development of a new BC Cancer Centre in Kamloops.
- The Victoria and Nanaimo Advisory Councils have rallied their networks for the Foundation’s historic $15 million fundraising campaign for BC Cancer – Victoria, which will fund the new BC Cancer – Victoria Integrated Care and Research Pavilion. The Nanaimo Advisory Council will also be supporting a new, upcoming BC Cancer Centre in Nanaimo.
- The Fraser Region Transformation Council is supporting the state-of-the-art BC Cancer Centre under construction in Surrey, as well as the new integrated BC Cancer Centre in Burnaby — both of which will increase BC Cancer’s capacity in the Fraser Region.
To all our wonderful volunteers, thank you so much — we truly appreciate your hard work and dedication, and we wouldn’t be able to do it without you!
