The Abbotsford Discovery Luncheon supports world-class research and enhancements to patient care at the BC Cancer Agency in Abbotsford.

Over the last four years over $155,000 has been raised at the Discovery Luncheon for ground-breaking cancer research and enhancements to patient care at the BC Cancer Agency Abbotsford Centre.

Your generosity has enabled advancements to the rapidly expanding clinical trials program in Abbotsford. The Discovery Luncheon has also supported the brachytherapy program, which uses tiny radioactive ‘seeds’ to apply radiation directly to cancer tumours, maximizing the effectiveness of radiation treatment, while minimizing damage to adjacent tissues and structures. Abbotsford Cancer Centre is one of the most advanced and active brachytherapy sites in Canada.

Funds raised at the 2016 Discovery Luncheon supported the acquisition of the Pro Lok One, a critical piece of equipment that will provide better patient outcomes and create clinical efficiencies for lung cancer patients undergoing radiation therapy at the Abbotsford Cancer Centre. 2015’s luncheon supported the BC Cancer Agency’s world-leading Personalized Onco-Genomics (POG) program.
